Hermaus Whale Watching trips

Start with a brief informative talk on what animals to look out for and the route we will be taking.

Each passenger is offered a life jacket but this is not compulsory. On each trip, we drink a toast to “Our Whales”, cold water and juice is provided.

We launch from the fishing harbour of Gansbaai and travel along the Cliffs of De Kelders towards the Plaat beach.

Whale Season - Whale Watching Trips - (June To December)

Our Hermanus whale watching trips take place from June to December however, should the whales change their migration schedule (arrive early and leave later) we will adjust our schedule accordingly.

Generally the trip last 2 hrs, but can be longer depending on how quickly we find the whales.

At the start of the season we launch twice daily at 10am and 1pm, in main season (Aug-Sep-Oct) we put on an extra trip in the morning with a 7am launch and then from September on-wards an extra trip in the afternoon either 3:30pm or if a good sunset is forecasted a trip at 5pm.

The 5pm trip is truly a magnificent experience watching the whales bask in the shallow waters as well as experiencing a stunning Walker Bay sunset.

SHARK cage dive and WHALE trip combo 🦈🐋 ☀️Definitely the most popular combo on the list! Enjoy a day filled with adventure starting with a morning Shark Cage Dive! This experience begins with a breakfast while you signed in and prepare for your dive. Once everyone is checked in you receive a quick safety briefing and head to the boat for your departure. On the boat you get amazing sightings of the sharks coming right up to the boat for that face to face encounter. 🦈Kitted in a wetsuit and googles you are ready to brave the elements, you climb into your cage and wait for the sharks to come and greet you! The friendly and informative crew ensure you get the best out of your experience and also keep you feeling safe wether you’re in the cage or on the boat ⚓️After you’ve braved the sharks you return to land for a warm cooked meal and a debrief. Once you’re done eating and all prepared for round two! You travel a short distance to the Gansbaai harbour where you join us for a 2 hour boat based whale trip. Your time in the water is now done and you get to enjoy a birds eye view of the whales and hopefully other sea life too! We spend most of our time looking for Southern Right Whales but we also target all the following species:🦀 Brydes Whales🦀 Humpback Whales🦀 Dolphin (Common, Bottle nose and more)🦀 Cape Fur Seal🦀 Penguin🦀 Marine Birdlife⚠️ Please note: as we are working with nature and have a deep respect for the ocean and her animals we cannot guarantee any sightings on either of these trips. Don’t worry, we have systems in place should this happen 😁Around 3.30 pm you will be done with your trip and ready to head home after a day on the water 🐋🦈☀️ (we are also able to offer this combo over 2 days)📹 The below video is an idea of what you will experience on your shark cage dive! We had 2 of our crew join White Shark Diving Company on one of their morning excursions this week! 10/10 experience that they would recommend to anyone (even if you don’t want to climb in the cage) Let us know if you have any questions 👍🏼🔗 Follow this link to live track some of our Southern Right Whales as they head back to the feeding grounds: https://www.mammalresearchinstitute.science/whale-unit📞 Call or WhatsApp on +27 (0) 82 926 7977✉️ Email - info@whaleviewing.co.za 🖥️ Website - www.whaleviewing.co.za📷 Follow us on Instagram here - https://www.instagram.com/ivanhoeseasafaris/🎥 Subscribe to our YouTube Channel here - https://bit.ly/3lZVrrl ... 🐋 DID YOU KNOW💡Southern Right Whales are naturally friendly, inquisitive animals that swim slowly and prefer to stick close to the coast. That makes these whales great for viewing as they can be easier to spot and are curious enough to come right up to the boat to get a better look at it, giving us the chance to get a better look at them! That is exactly what happened on todays trip 😁Definitely our closest encounter for the season… so far 😉 don’t miss out on your opportunity to see these gentle giants up close. Our next trip is Saturday at 1pm with a few seats still open 👏🏻 📞 🔗 Follow this link to live track some of our Southern Right Whales as they head back to the feeding grounds: https://www.mammalresearchinstitute.science/whale-unit📞 Call or WhatsApp on +27 (0) 82 926 7977✉️ Email - info@whaleviewing.co.za 🖥️ Website - www.whaleviewing.co.za📷 Follow us on Instagram here - https://www.instagram.com/ivanhoeseasafaris/🎥 Subscribe to our YouTube Channel here - https://bit.ly/3lZVrrl ...
