Whale Watching Private Charter, charter the boat no matter if you are a small family group or a large corporate wishing to charter the boat, we offer this exclusivity all year round for any of our trips – Whale watching, Big 5 Marine watching for the avid photographer or experience our magnificent Sunset trip.

Exclusivity means the boat is yours to use for a 2hr period, ideal for the photographer that wishes to move all around the boat and capture photos without having to worry about someone stepping in the way.

Office Team building, movie shots, private parties for Sun Set trips, bring you own drinks as we do no serve any beverages except water.

We offer a wide selection of food platters, and these can be found on our booking page under refreshments. We provide 2 complimentary platters of your choice with all private charters.

Whale Watching

Our whale watching trips take place from June to December however, should the whales change their migration schedule (arrive early and leave later) we will adjust our schedule accordingly.  Generally the trip last 2 hrs, but can be longer depending on how quickly we find the whales.  

Big 5 Sea Safaris

Join the Ivanhoe team for a 2 hour trip from the harbor of Gansbaai and discover the site where the famous British iron paddle-wheel frigate HMS Birkenhead, weighing 1400 tons, was tragically lost off Danger Point. En-route you may catch sight of Walker bays big 5!

The past 3 days there has been a algae bloom in the bay looks like oil slicks but after having the water tested we can confirm that it is in fact Noctiluca scintillans otherwise known as sea sparkle. t is a single-celled dinoflagellate (an alga with a flagellum or tentacle) and belongs to the microalgae. Unlike most algae, sea sparkle does not use sunlight to make food (photosynthesis).
